Grant + support
We know from experience that it is talented individuals who create social change which is why we start with the person, a social entrepreneur, activist or changemaker. Their success is enhanced when they can receive the support of experienced individuals and access to networks and seed funding.
We use our own funds to incubate new projects such as our grants for university students and for refugees to support the re-launch of their careers. But we cannot do this alone and so we seek collaborations with other funders and donors on growing these initiatives.
We have also extensive experience of growing and starting social enterprises. For example in 2012 we collaborated in the creation of Eastside People, the pre-eminent specialist social sector consultancy and recruiter.
Today we have built close links with the Centre for Charity Effectiveness at Bayes Business School, where we support their Masters course. Collaborations are key to the way we work.
Since 2004, when we started bringing talented individuals into the social sector, initially as career transition specialists, then as consultants and interims, we have built extensive experience of working with other funders. Our biggest collaboration has been with the Lloyds Bank Foundation and since 2015 we have worked on over 200 of their Enhance projects which support small charities with incomes of less than £1m with social sector professionals who apply their specialist experience to specific problems.
Are you a grant funder or donor and looking for ways of enhancing your funding? Perhaps we can help, but at the very least we can share our experiences with you.
