Step-Up pilot project - Swindon

Our project supports refugees with mentoring, access to networks and financial assistance to help them restart their career. This allows them to contribute effectively by working where their skills and experience will have the most impact - helping them rebuild their lives and benefiting the UK economy.

We are excited to partner with the Swindon-based charity The Harbour Project. The Harbour Project is a charity supporting people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. They aim to be a family for each person they support, helping them to rebuild their lives through advice, hope and humanity.

Our Step-Up project forms part of their Step2Work Programme aimed at helping people into meaningful work.

This is a pilot project, but we are excited about the potential for expansion and replication, helping more people find meaningful employment.

If you are interested in volunteering to help refugees restart their careers or would like to find out more about offering funding, please contact us at ianprimetimers@gmail.com.

Who are we helping?

Dentist

“A” is a dentist who came from war-torn Sudan in 2022. He is sitting exams to be able to work in the UK. The Step-Up project is supporting him with living expenses and teeth to practice on during his studies.

Civil Engineer

“B” is a civil engineer who came from Afghanistan. With a Masters from a prestigious university in Japan, we are supporting him with mentoring and introductions to networks.

Customer Services

“C” came to the UK from Myanmar. With a bcakground in hospitality and training, the Step-Up project is helping her refine her cv and her LinkedIn profile as well as mentoring.

Make a Donation

We are giving gants to refugees to cover such things as exam and re-accreditation fees, training courses, refurbished computers and IT support.

Every act of generosity—big or small—helps build a world that reflects our shared values.
